MRT will unveil what some people think Ford should have made in the first place
AutoWeek, “Ford trucks into SEMA with slew of F-150s,” Wesley Wren, October 15, 2015
With SEMA fast approaching, Ford previewed the 2016 F-150 pickups that will be present in its ever-expanding booth. The seven full-sizers were graced by MRT, Leer, Roush, CGS, Air Design USA, Forgiato and (of course) Galpin. These shops are tasked with taking these F-150s to edges of the aftermarket world.
The truck from MRT will feature a TREMEC six-speed manual behind the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 -- something we think Ford should have really considered doing for its production models. A QuickTime bellhousing and Exedy clutch and flywheel make the TREMEC Magnum swap possible, but with this being SEMA, a cool stick-shifted F-150 won’t cut the mustard. Nah, MRT will go full-tilt with this hot hauler with extensive performance mods that get the most out of the twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6.
SEMA — short for Specialty Equipment Marketing Association — is the biggest aftermarket auto event in the world, held in Las Vegas each fall. The show fills multiple convention halls and shows off everything from high-performance OEM specials to custom wheels and graphics from local shops.
