TREMEC Belgium in facts and figures
Gearing up for a great future
TREMEC’s factory in Zedelgem, near Bruges in Flanders, focuses on the niche market of automatic transmission systems for premium (sports) cars like Ferrari, McLaren, Audi RS, Maserati and Jaguar. In 2015, the Mexican parent company decided to turn its Flanders-based facility into its global R&D center for hi-tech transmission solutions.
Along with this decision comes an investment of no less than EUR 100 million, which will mainly be used to construct dust-free warehouses and testing facilities. The project, which covers applications of double clutch transmissions for both the European and North American car markets, also entails the recruitment of 100 new employees in Zedelgem.
Flanders and TREMEC
TREMEC’s decision to expand the R&D activities in Flanders underlines the advantages of the region’s highly skilled workforce. Antonio Herrera Rivera, CEO of the TREMEC Group: “The main reason we selected Flanders was the availability of competent engineers who are capable of developing these hi-tech products, and the presence of high level of automation. All of this constitutes a major competitive advantage.”
